To follow on from my earlier “iPhone for Dads” post, I was given a couple of great apps for my daughter to have a play with.
Farmyard and Zoo I think could qualify for the simplest of simplest iPhone Apps. There really is nothing much too them – but that’s exactly what is needed when the target audience; in this case is my 16 month old daughter.
Beautifully designed it’s evident that the lads behind this – Smudge Apps – have spent some time designing. The characters are very cute, quite simplistic and very eye catching. I can give my iPhone to my daughter, ask her where the cow it and she’ll happily tap away on it, to the backing track of mooing.

Farmyard
As you can see, Farmyard and Zoo are just slight variations of the exact same app. The characters are lined up for little fingers to tap on. Tapping each animal results in a noise – moo, baa, oink, meow etc. The farmyard has your typical range of farm animals and zoo has your typical zoo animals.
At US$0.99c each it’s a very small price to pay to have some thing to silence the little one at church, in the Dr’s office, on the plane or anywhere you need two minutes of distraction.
Definitely a must have for any parent (yes, Mum’s you too).
