Yellow NZ iPhone App

Yellow Pages NZ (or Yellow as they now known) are moving into the mobile space with a new iPhone app, which is looking pretty solid. To be honest there is not too much to write about – but in this case, that’s a good thing. It’s a business directory, you search, you find local businesses (based of course on your location through the GPS) and you call or get directions – what more do you want?

Sure you can save to favourites, you can view all on the map, you can email the details to a friend and such like, all you’d expect it too. It’s not in the App store just yet, but there is now a demo video on YouTube.

Dialling numbers on the iPhone is really simple, but unless you remember everyone’s phone numbers, trying to search for a contact to call them is a pain in the …. well you get the idea.

That is where Smart Dial comes into play. With this app you can open up the dialler and start typing out someone’s name phone keypad fashion, eg press 6275 on the keypad to dial Mark.

Apple announced the release of the new iPod Touch. They are now shaped more like the iPhone with the curved back but are made out of stainless steel instead of plastic like the iPhone. They also come with volume control buttons which goes along nicely with the new internal speakers.

Another huge feature for the iPod Touch is Nike+ integration. Nike+ is a combination of a sensor on your Nike shoes and software on the iPod that integrates your running and music.

8GB, $229, 16GB for $299, and a 32GB for $399

This all means no GPS, no microphone, no camera, no bluetooth.
