How do you move your iPhone from one Mac to another?

For the longest time I’ve had my iPhone syncing to my work laptop. It made sense given this was my primary machine (actually ONLY machine at the time). However things have been changing at work and I figured it was high time I took all my personal stuff off .. so I purchased a new iMac for home and moved everything.

However, as I took the opportunity to do a big clean up etc I decided not to do the usual Mac to Mac migration. My iPhone of course was full of applications that I’d downloaded, bought or reviewed. I burnt them to DVD along with other items to backup and … well now I’m stuck.

I can’t simply copy them into the Mobile Apps folder in iTunes – iTunes doesn’t recognise them

I probably should have done some de-authorization before blowing away my personal stuff

Is there anyway to restore my Mobile Apps on the new mac?

So I thought I’d throw the question over to you … what would you do if you needed to swap your iPhone from one Mac to another? Is there a process to go through?

UPDATE

I figured it out. Here are the steps to migrate your apps back to your phone

Drag the ipa files for the apps you want to iTunes

Go to the STORE menu and click AUTHORIZE

Plugin your iPhone

Sync

I have my apps (I have my $14 THINGS app!) back on my iPhone!!
