For me, even my 14mnth old loves my iPhone – the teeth marks in the skin I have, are proof of that.

Sadly, as much as we love our phones, from time to time something will happen that causes the phone to crash, freeze or just become completely unresponsive. The first time this happens to you, your heart races, you start to panic – “noooooo”

I remember walking calmly to the back of our office to a mate who has a 1st Gen iPhone, and simply handing him the phone. He smiled and said “Oh, there’s a trick to this”

I thought I’d share that with you.

Rebooting your phone:

It’s very easy to reboot your iPhone, simply hold down the HOME button and the POWER button together until you see your phone reboot (about 15seconds). Release and the phone will continue to power up.

Quick Factory Reset:

If your iPhone is really giving you grief, you can do a factory reset right from the device, without having to plug into iTunes. Again, hold down the HOME and POWER buttons, for 10 seconds, and then release the POWER button (maintain pressing the home button). Your iPhone will now reset itself.

I hope you never have to use these tips, no really, I hope this post is a complete and utter waste of pixels on the internet. Sadly I realise we all have to do this at some stage.

Apple has determined that under certain conditions the new ultracompact Apple USB power adapter’s metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock. We have received reports of detached blades involving a very small percentage of the adapters sold, but no injuries have been reported.

The ultracompact USB power adapters were supplied with every iPhone 3G sold in the following countries, and may also have been purchased separately as an accessory:

  • US
  • Japan
  • Canada
  • Mexico

They are now shaped more like the iPhone with the curved back but are made out of stainless steel instead of plastic like the iPhone. They also come with volume control buttons which goes along nicely with the new internal speakers.

Another huge feature for the iPod Touch is Nike+ integration. Nike+ is a combination of a sensor on your Nike shoes and software on the iPod that integrates your running and music.

8GB, $229, 16GB for $299, and a 32GB for $399

This all means no GPS, no microphone, no camera, no bluetooth.

But a few weeks ago an app came along called MagicPad, and it broke the rules by having copy and paste. But only within itsself. Now a developer called Zac Whites has manged to figer out how to do this with out breaking iPhone SDK agreement. His app is called OpenClip and and developers can add it to any app. Since it's open source it could be added to both App Store and Jailbroken apps. Cali Lewis from GeekBrief.tv shows a demo of it on her latest show. She also has an audio only interview with Zac here:


The way it works (in very plain english) is when you copy something from an app, it writes it in it's own folder, when you paste something into an app, it would look in all other copy and paste compatible apps folders for recently copied info, sort it by date, and select the most recent one and paste it into the app. If you are an iPhone developer and would like to add this feature to your app or want to look deeper into how this all works watch the second video.
